Case Study 1

Assessment

Through a combination of focus groups, employee surveys, statistical analysis, exit interviews and speaking with recruitment consultants it was identified that the crux of the matter was a uncompetitive reward package. While the organisation paid market rate it was of the lower end and there were no other benefits bar a minimum pension and sick pay scheme.

Improvement Plan

The organisation had a 40 hour week which was both uncompetitive in today's market and lowered the hourly rate of pay for employees. After discussions with the Management Team it was agreed that the company could work to a 37.5 hour week comfortably, making a significant difference to the employees without an incremental cost to the bottom line. The organisation also offered a 21 day holiday scheme which ABHR increased to 23 with a review at the end of the year to increase to 25 if the organisation suffered no loss of business.

Recognising the high % of women in the organisation of a childbearing age the Maternity and Paternity schemes were improved as well as Tax Efficient Childcare Vouchers introduced.
